Volunteer Action Center

The United Way Volunteer Action Center serves as a community resource matching the skills and interests of volunteers with the needs of non-profit agencies and others. VAC maintains a database of volunteer opportunities listed by non-profit agencies in the top 26 counties of the Panhandle. United Way of Amarillo & Canyon VAC Current Volunteer Needs

BSA HOSPICE & LIFE ENRICHMENT CENTER

BSA Hospice & Life Enrichment Center are in need of volunteers. Volunteers are needed year round. The minimum age requirement is 18 years of age. Life is more precious when it is limited. BSA Hospice Volunteers help patients live each moment as fully as possible. Volunteers are there to offer compassionate caring and unconditional love. They help light the pathway so that life’s final journey will be one of dignity, grace and peace.

OUTstanding Amarillo

The Youth and Adult Services of OUTstanding Amarillo are in need of volunteers to help them with their services that are provided throughout the Panhandle Area. Volunteers are needed for facility upkeep, library maintenance, youth activities, setup/cleanup for various events, host/participate in public discussions, coordinate events, bookkeeping, legal issues, policy review, graphic design, media & distribution, public relations, and advocacy.

Teen Suicide prevention is OUTstanding Amarillo’s main goal. The work they do impacts the Texas Panhandle in its entirety. No one is afforded the opportunity to freely live their lives until everyone is.

Downtown Womens Center

Volunteers are needed to serve as truck drivers for Thrift Town donation pick-ups in Amarillo/Canyon area. CDL license and lifting not required. A good driving record is required. Volunteers may volunteer 1 day a week or more. The minimum age requirement is 18 years of age.

Thrift Town located at 600 S.W. 10th is also in urgent need of Volunteers. Thrift Town is the Downtown Women’s Centers’ main funding resource for it residential and transitional housing programs. The minimum age requirement is 18 years of age.

 

Lutheran Social Services Foster Care & Adoption

Volunteers are needed to help provide brief childcare for foster parents who have to take other children to appointments and to provide childcare during foster parent trainings. Volunteers are also needed to help answer phones or do various office work. The minimum age requirement is 20 years of age. Volunteers are needed Monday – Friday from 9-4. Training is provided and community service volunteers are accepted.

Volunteers will make a positive impact on the lives of abused and/or neglected children who have been placed into foster care, and on the foster parents who provide these children a safer, secure, loving environment.
